First thing first, the 'dolls' that are the subject of the photography in this gallery are known as Asian Ball-Jointed Dolls, or ABJDs for short. If you are keen to know more, you can find loads of information about these dolls on Den of Angels forum, including a list of BJD companies where you can get these dolls.

The dolls featured in the photographs here belong to me. I do not claim to make these dolls; I am just one of the many owner of these wonderful dolls. However, I customized and personalized the doll myself and the persona that they are created to represent are those of my original characters, unless otherwise stated (ie they are cosplay dolls).

So yes, ABJDs are highly customizable dolls and are usually personified by the owner. They are not "mere mass-produced toys" but collectibles that are "works of art". You can do a lot with a BJD and this include artistic pursuits like photography, story writing, painting and customization, modification, outfit-making and so, so, so on. In fact, they are like an outlet for creativity spanning across mediums.

And oh, did I mention? They also multiply like jackrabbits.

You read right, all my dolls are boys, at least for now~

And other than the cosplay dolls (e.g. L of Death Note), they represent characters of a fictional, but original, story of mine. However the storyline is nothing too specific yet as I am keeping the plot open for future dolls~ Each of the boys have a different story behind them, but a common thread binds them all together. Any similarity to any story or invidual (dead, living or otherwise in between) is purely coincidental.  You can read more about my dolls from my BJD blog.

I do edit my photos in Photoshop, like adding borders/watermark, brightness/contrast, etc. Occasionally, I play around in Photoshop to achieve different effects. Although I am still a photography amateur, my boys' photos are NOT stock images nor are they "free-for-all", so please do NOT use, edit or redistribute them without permission. If you would like to use them as reference or for other personal use, please do drop me a note on DA or even DOA. I'd love to take a look at your work.

Finally, if you have any questions, feel free to note me or drop a comment in my main page. This note will be updated as and when needed. ^^ Thank you.
